ISSA Minnesota Chapter Meeting Minutes

Location:  Fort Snelling Officers Club

 

 

President, Kelley Archer

The Corporate Sponsors were welcomed

The sign up roster was explained and the distributed.  The purpose of the roster is to verify CPE credits for the CISSP, SSCP, etc and to monitor for new members.  The Membership Director will keep the rosters for 3 years so past CPE credits can be determined if necessary.

A new position is being added to the Chapter Board of Directors – Marketing Director.  The duties of the new position will be to promote and market the chapter.  Details will be posted on the chapter web site.   Members interested in filling the position can contact any Board member.

The Chapter’s web site has been updated.  The President asked for feedback on the web site.  One suggestion was to remove the audio of the loon.  This will not be done.

The Strategic Business Plan is being updated and will be posted on the web site.

The results of the Feedback Survey from the last chapter meeting are being reviewed and the topic that members identified on the survey will be posted on the web site and will be the topics at future chapter meetings.

The CISSP Class and Exam will be held at Century College.  The class will be April 14 – 18 and the exam will be May 9.  Flyers are available and information is on the chapter web site, including a link to the (ISC)2 web site.

            The instructors for the CISSP class will be Kevin Henry and Ray Kaplan.  Ray is a member of our chapter.  As of March 6th, we have 8 people signed up for the class and 20 for the exam.

 

The Strictly Business Expo was announced. 

-         Where: Minneapolis Convention Center

-         When: May 14 & 15

-         Chapter will have its own booth and theater

-         We were given a theater this year because of your support of the show, co-sponsoring Kevin Mitnick and assisting with the Risk Management section of the showroom floor

-         Kennsco, Espiria and Aaron Latto from St Paul Co.s are speaking in our theater

-         Kevin Mitnick speaking on 15th as on of the show’s keynote speaker

The Chapter Spring Conference was announced.  It will be held May 21 and 22 in the Ballroom at the Fort Snelling Officers Club.  Members can register via the chapter web site and credit cards will be accepted for pre-registration through May 16.  After that, only checks will be accepted.  Continental breakfast, lunch and snacks are included in the registration fee, as well as a Social Hour that will be held after the conference on May 21.  You can sign up for 1 or both days of the conference. 

 

President, Kelley Archer asked for any questions or comments.  A question was asked as to what went into the decision to co-sponsor Kevin Mitnick at the Strictly Business Expo.  Kelley explained that the Board is not endorsing Kevin Mitnick’s actions or his requested membership into ISSA.  The Board co-sponsored the presentation because it believes that Kevin will present information on an interesting topic that is valuable to the chapter members.
