ISSA -
This was the first July meeting in the Chapter’s history, as meetings were not held in the summer months. However, due to the growth of the security industry, it was felt that consistent meetings throughout the year would be beneficial to members.
Nomination
for Professional of the Year.
Chapter Members can nominate
other members for the ISSA Professional of the Year award. The information and nomination form are
posted on the chapter web site. http://www.mn-issa.org The Chapter winner will go on to the
International level.
There are 3 Board member
positions up for election this fall. The
positions are: President, Vice President
and Recording Secretary. If you would
like to run for a Board position, send an e-mail to President, Kelley Archer at
president@mn-issa.org. ISSA International quidelines will be
followed.
Committee to work on
biometrics
A committee on biometrics is
being organized. If you are interested,
contact President, Kelley Archer at president@mn-issa.org.
A draft of the chapter’s
marketing plan will be finalized in the next couple weeks and the final plan
will be published on the chapter web site in August. If you have any suggestions or ideas for the
marketing plan, contact Marketing Director, Phil Vaughn at marketing@mn-issa.org .

The expo been moved to June.
Scholarship program
The chapter has a college
scholarship program for the children of members who are high school seniors or
in their first 4 years of college.

Would members like an annual conference?
A showing of hands at the chapter meeting indicated that many would like an annual conference. The issues are time commitments for board members/organizers and obtaining quality/informative speakers.
For the first time, the
chapter has over 200 members.

Name tags
Will be
available at the next meeting so members can meet each other more easily.
The chapter will start a
Resource Library on the web site, which will include white papers on technology
in general; not on specific products. It
will also include CISSP information.
The chapter will be ordering
shirts for members. More information
will appear on the web site.
There is a security awareness
group that meets at General Mills in the opposite month of the ISSA chapter
meetings. Information is on the web
site, under User Groups.
ISSA International requires
information on meeting attendance for CISSP credits.
The board will have sign-up
sheets at each chapter meeting and will forward the information to ISSA
International. The board will also file
the sign-up sheets for history and audit purposes.
