ISSA Chapter Meeting Minutes

Meeting was opened by President, Rick Ensenbach

Introduction of Board of Directors

Thank corporate sponsors for their support

Reminder of HSPIG and Security awareness groups

New Mankato chapter – 1st meeting 2 weeks ago. Over 50 people attended

Rick will send out information from chapter presidents meeting in e-mail to members

Keep contact information with ISSA up to date.  The Chapter doesn’t do this for you – the information is passed from International to the chapter.

Prizes shown for meeting drawing for members wearing ISSA shirts and/or pins.

Update on Secure 360 conference

   Encourage people to sign up

   40 paid sponsors + 19 potential sponsors

   41 people have already signed up

   Expecting 400+ attendees

   Adding a 4th partial track for gold level sponsors

   Current tracks are filled with speakers

   Infragard will participate on the panel discussion

   St. Paul Mayor Coleman will preside at the opening ceremony

   Roger Cressey will be keynote speaker

   Starting plans for next year at river center

   Records Management and Infragard may be part of next years conference.

 

Communication Director, Linda Hensel

Slight web site change – switching web posting company and e-mail company.  May need to refresh browser when go to web site.  Will start tonight and may take a couple days to complete.

 

Education Director, Scott Simonsen

CISSP exam will be at Century College at the new East Campus.  See website for directions and to register.  Next exam will be in late October.  Will hope to offer a CISSP Boot Camp the first part of October.  Will continue exams twice per year.

Scholarships available to members, family members and others going into IT field.  Scholarships and applications will be on web site within the next week.

 

Membership Director, Chad Boeckmann

ISSA Membership drive called 1+1 2006-2007.  Renewals and recruitments puts you in a drawing for prizes.  This is being substituted for renewal gifts.  Grand prize is airfare, hotel, Information Security Conference fee, dinner with ISSA Board and picture in ISSA Journal.  Each referral gets another entry in drawing.

 

Treasurers report, Aaron Molenaar

Chapter was required to file federal taxes this year, but doesn’t have to pay taxes as we’re  non-profit.

Financial audit was completed Treasurer will implement recommendations.

Provided statements and budget plan to ISSA International.

Balance is currently over 14K with no large outstanding obligations.

Chapter is incorporated as 501-6 organization through ISSA International.

Board of Directors will be looking at ways to direct funds.
